+ PRI BARBOSA
A Brazilian illustrator and visual artist, Pri Barbosa depicts the female form in all their uniqueness and vulnerabilities. She creates poetry through her illustrations, always focusing on femininity and what that entails. enhancing Her art is inclusive, sensual, and body-positive. In this collab we wanted to showcase elements of the female body and of Brazilian botany, in two models: Scarabeus Orquidea Mariposa and Apis Açaí. Our first collab presented and sold to the international market.
Farm, a clothing line that embodies the feminine spirit and vibrant colors of Rio de Janeiro, told us it was rethinking its production processes and invited us to resignify some stalled parts. It spanned almost 2 years of dialogue, with an open chest and co-construction. If the greenest product is the one that already exists, why not join forces so that our message reaches more people? We panned leftover pieces and fabrics from past Farm collections and turned them into shoes. It's a sandal made of clothes!
The Fava arose from the desire to build purpose, to connect people to nature. With her illustration studio, Fabiana designs and prints projects she believes in. For this Collab, we brought in each print a form the Cerrado biome of the state of Minas Gerais : Campo Rupestre, Cerradão and Cerrado.
Collab Insecta + Revoada came from the union of two female companies. Revoada was born to think of design as a way to reinvent what is already out there. The main raw material is what a lot of people would call garbage: tire chambers and umbrella nylon. Two models of shoes were created, and besides them, some waterproof, reversible and folding jackets that fit inside the pocket.
Shwe is a South African brand that works with artisans in vulnerable situations. Everything revolves around a project that empowers women to be professionals with the dreamed financial independence, as well as being able to support their families and generate income for the communities where they live. The surplus of brand production brought this collab to life.
Insecta + Flavia Aranha brings two slow fashion and sustainable brands giving a new life to what would go to waste. Upcycling and natural dyeing coated our vegan shoes in a super limited collection.
Collab focused on reusing materials and exchanging experiences between Insecta product professionals and local artisans. The line of backpacks and necessaires was made from reused jeans and eco-friendly fabric from recycled PET bottles.
Benta Studio is a carioca brand with a passion for design and printing and it's all about Insecta! Our collab was all made from the brand's overwrap fabrics and in a wide variety of designs, including Scarabeus, Papilio and Argia. Each one in a more beautiful print than the other.
The Insecta + Pirecco Collab was made from the artist's old experimental works. Carefully cut and made into shoes, it resulted in a very limited edition where not even the same pair of shoes were equal.
